Acquiring Models

Thu Oct 9, 2008, 7:20 PM
Hello everyone!

I'm finding out how much work marketing yourself is. I've spent hours today emailing potential models and have received little to no reaction.

Therefore I am branching out to the DA Community to see if any of you would be interested in modeling for me or if you know anyone who would.

I am a student at the University of Arizona majoring in Photography and am doing an extensive project on Artistic Nudes.

Here is a description of the project:

Analyzing Nude Photography

The inspiration for this analysis stemmed from being a gallery monitor at the Center for Creative Photography. During the last three exhibitions, entitled Ralph Gibson and Lustrum Press 1970-1985, Making a Photograph, and Debating Modern Photography: The Triumph of Group f/64, nude portraiture has been on display. While on duty I noticed that aside from the occasional immature grade school and high school students, who upon seeing the nudity excitedly giggled, sneered, and whispered amongst themselves, adults also lacked a certain understanding for the subject matter. With distaste they either silently furrowed their brows or professed aloud their consideration for it being pornographic to another. My hope is to change their reaction by analyzing the various applications of nudity within photography. I realize some consider any use of nudity as morally irreprehensible, but I hope to educate those who are receptive yet unaware of its uses.

I have broken down the project into six contexts those being:
Eroticism
Beauty
Anatomy
Age
Race
Liberation/Comfort
Ideals

From there I have five "factors" that determine how an image is contextualized and those are: lighting, environment, posture, body composition, interaction.

I am doing all this in hopes of creating a book to educate those foreign to Nude Photography's place in art and to dispel the notion that nudity is purely sexual.

I will incorporate you into whatever context is most comfortable for you or appeals to you most.

My most recent work is here:[link]
